Sopranos star Tony Sirico dies at 79

Tony Sirico, actor best known for portraying Peter Paul “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri in sopranoat the age of 79 soprano Co-star Michael Imperioli, who took to Instagram on Friday to commemorate the actor. The Imperioli post revealed Sirico’s death on Friday, July 8. The cause of death is currently unknown at this time.

“It pains me to say that my dear friend, colleague and partner in crime, the great Tony Sirico passed away today,” the Imperioli post read. “Tony was like no one else: he was as strong, loyal, and big-hearted as anyone I’ve ever known. I’ve been by his side through a lot: through good times and bad. But mostly he’s been good. And we had loads of laughs. We found a groove like Christopher Polly and I are proud to say that I have done so much of the best and most enjoyable work with my dear friend Tony. I will miss him forever. He truly is irreplaceable. Sending love to his family, friends, and his many fans. He was loved and will never be forgotten. The grief of today.”

Born in New York City on July 29, 1942, Siriko became interested in acting during his time in prison, after a visit by an acting troupe of former convicts. Sirico first appeared on screen as an extra in the 1974 film crazy jo.
